Long

~160 words
Design Graveyard is an exhibition of abandoned and unfinished design work, pulled from designers' archives and shown as finished pieces. Much of our work never makes it into the world. It gets set aside because of project constraints, shifting priorities, budgets, or a client who chose another direction. Sometimes it was just an afternoon spent exploring a new material. These are not failures. They are relics of the process, dense with experimentation and unrealized potential. Submissions are open to all designers, in any discipline, through October 10. There's no entry fee, nothing new has to be made, designers keep the rights to their work, and they keep their print after the show. Presented by SEGD Chicago and curated by Ryan Odom, AIA and Katie Osborne. Opening night is Tuesday, October 27 at the Field Building, 135 S. LaSalle Street, Chicago. On view through November 9, 10 AM to 5 PM.

Material

Made from paper. Used again.

Every structure in the exhibition is made from Re-board, a 100% recyclable paper board donated by Re-board Technology. Amplify Graphics & Branding printed it and organized the build, and Zünd America cut it. After the show, the structures go into storage for the next Design Graveyard.
